The Bosch City Kettle is available in two colour schemes, namely anthracite (pictured above) and stainless steel. In both instances the handle, power switch and the water gauge's outer frame are made from black plastic.

In terms of construction, the City Kettle appears to be well constructed. The exterior is minimalistic, enhancing the look and making it suitable for modern kitchens which tend to follow this style.

About Bosch

The City Kettle is by Bosch, the multinational engineering and electronics company with a reputation for innovation. In particular, they sell kitchenware, including kettles, toasters, blenders, refrigerators, washing machines, bread makers, dishwashers, and more. They're known for their high quality and reliable products.

The Bosch City Kettle comes equipped with the following features:

  • Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or around 6-7 cups worth of water.
  • Dimensions - 15.2cm x 23.7cm x 25.0cm.
  • Energy Efficiency - The kettle's energy rating range is A++ to B.
  • Concealed Heating Element - The heating element is concealed in the bottom of the kettle. This has two advantages. Firstly, the inside is much easier to clean. Secondly, it inhibits the build up of limescale which makes your drink taste better and extends the lifespan of the kettle.
  • Cord Storage - The cord can be stored in the base, if needed.
  • Triple Safety Feature - There are three primary safety features. First of all the kettle has automatic shut-off, meaning it will switch itself off once it has boiled the water. Secondly, boil dry protection will cause the kettle to turn off if all of the water evaporates. Thirdly, the kettle will switch itself off when lifted off the base.

360 Degree Base

The kettle sits on a 360 degree base for convenience. This means that you can pick it up and place it down on the base at any angle. This is particularly handy if the kettle is used by left handers and right handers.

Push Button Hinged Lid

There's a conveniently placed button on the top of the kettle. Simply press with your thumb whilst holding the handle, and the lid will flip open. It's pictured below:

Limescale Water Filter

There is a limescale filter inside the spout. This is particular handy if you live in the areas of Britain with hard water (basically anywhere not near mountains). The limescale filter makes your drink look and taste better.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Bosch City Kettle is a neat and convenient piece of equipment. It's simplistic and minimal in its design, but its features are broad and go above and beyond many kettle available on the market. On top of that, the kettle is by Bosch so you know you're getting a quality product. We rate this kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars.
