The Morphy Richards Verve Kettle is a modern electric jug kettle inspired by age old pottery and ceramics. The textured ceramic pattern makes the Verve Kettle evoke memories of the pottery age. Other notable design elements include the convenient lift off lid, and the angled spout to permit easy pouring.
The blend of modern and classic design ensures that the Verve Kettle is suitable for modern and classic kitchens. Furthermore, the Verve Kettle is available in three colours, namely white (pictured), cream and black. All three colours are pictured below:
Despite the classic design, the features are very much up to date. We discuss them in detail below, but the most notable are the rapid boiling, the fine mesh limescale filter, the easy view water window and the 360 degree base.
Morphy Richards are a famous brand of household appliances. In fact, the chances are you already have Morphy Richards products. They've been around since the 1930s and have acquired a reputation for their high quality and innovative products. Some of their other products include toasters, slow cookers, microwaves and coffee machines. In fact, they sell a toaster and coffee machine which have designs matching the Verve Kettle.
Let's take a look at what you can expect from the Verve Kettle.
Before the water gets to your cup it will go through a fine mesh limescale filter. This limescale filter will prevent limescale, but also other large particles from being poured. It's also easily removable, washable and therefore reusable.
There's a large water window with writing marking 3 cups, 5 cups and the 1.7 litre maximum. It's slightly wider than in most other kettles, making it easier to read. The gauge allows you to judge how much water is inside the kettle so you can bring down the boiling time by filling it with less water. (And it also helps you bring down your electricity bill!)
There's a one minute video of the Verve Kettle in action over at amazon.co.uk.
If you're a fan of the beautiful textured ceramic design, then it may be worth considering looking into matching appliances. Morphy Richards sell a toaster and a coffee machine in the same style, as pictured below:
The toaster holds four slices of bread and the coffee machine is "pour over".
Overall, a strong kettle. The Verve Kettle's elegant ceramic design has a classic feel to it, but there's also modern features shining through. The shape is definitely modern, as is the rapid boiling. In fact, most of the practical features are modern. We rate this kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars, and recommend it for both modern and classic kitchens.
