The Breville VKT159 Temperature Select Kettle is a premium kettle with variable temperature control, designed to provide boiled water at the optimal temperature for whatever drink you require, whether it's black tea, green tea, white tea, coffee or oolong (to name a few), you'll be set to go with this kettle.

From a design perspective, the kettle is compact and fairly sleek. Its official colour is nickel, although it's essentially a brushed stainless steel kettle. There are shiny brown components on the lid and around the bottom of the kettle. The handle is made from stainless steel.

About Breville

Breville, which you've no doubt heard of at some point, are a renowned brand of small home appliances. They originated in Sydney, Australia, but now operate across the world. They're particularly well known for their kettles, but they also sell toasters, blenders, water dispensers, waffle makers, and more.

Temperature Select

We now look at the icing on the cake, i.e. the temperature control functionality. As mentioned briefly above, the kettle has five temperature settings, namely 80C, 85C, 90C, 95C and 100C. These make the kettle suitable for a wide range of tea leaves and coffee beans on the market. This is illustrated below:

In addition to the temperature selection functionality, the kettle has the following features:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or around 6-8 cups.
• Package Dimensions - 25.8cm x 23.2cm x 18.6cm.
• Rapid Boil - The heating element is 3kW. This allows for a rapid boil, meaning you can catch a quick cup of tea before leaving the house, and will not have long to wait when the entire family need a hot drink.
• Limescale Filter - There's a fine mesh limescale filter inside the spout of the kettle. It's removable and washable. With this filter you can be sure that your drinks will look and taste good.
• Lift Off Lid - The lid can be entirely removed, allowing for easy cleaning and filling.
• Concealed Heating Element - Speaking of easy cleaning, the heating element is concealed in the bottom of the kettle.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle stands on a 360 degree rotational base, convenient for left and right handed users. Underneath the base are a set of non-slip feet to reduce base movement, and a space to store excess electrical cord.
• Rear Water Window - The rear of the kettle has a water gauge, marking from 4 cups up to the 8 cup maximum. This is particularly useful for accurate filling and saving energy.

Overall, the Breville Temp Select Kettle is well designed, and works as advertised. The standard features are there, such as a concealed element, a water gauge, a 360 degree base, etc. The temperature control aspect is perfect for people experimenting with different teas and coffees.
