Judge Kettle Review

The Judge JQ04 Large Stovetop Whistling Kettle is a large capacity 3.0 litre stove top whistling kettle with a retro style. It has an 18/10 strong stainless steel construction (18% chromium, 10% nickel) giving it durability. It also has a solid thermic base which distributes heat evenly. It provides a fast heat up on all hob types, including gas, induction, ceramic, solid plate, halogen and AGA.

We go into detail later, but at a glance the Judge Kettle has an audible whistle, a comfortable and cool to the touch handle, an easy lift off lid and a flip open spout. This kettle has been designed with ease of use in mind, so while the design is clearly traditional, there are some modern elements.

Judge is a kitchenware brand. They design from Bristol, UK and distribute worldwide. Other than kettles, they sell toasters, pots, pans, roasters, grill trays and more. They're a smaller brand, but they're known for their high quality and durable products.

We now take a look at the features:

• Capacity - 3.0 Litres. This is a very generous capacity, equating to about 12 cups.

• Whistle - When boiled, the kettle will emit a clear and audible whistle.
• Base - The base is durable. It's also thermic and will heat up uniformly, giving evenly heated water.
• Handle - The handle is ergonomically designed for comfort. It's also heat resistant so it will stay cool when the water inside of the kettle has boiled. When the kettle's full, the design is such that it will stay well balanced.
• Lift Off Lid - The lid simply lifts off for easy filling or cleaning.
• Flip Open Spout - There's a button underneath of the handle which, when pushed, will open the spout. An open spout provides an alternative filling method to the conventional open lid fill. As a bonus, the spout is non-drip.

Our View

Given the above, the Judge JQ04 Kettle is a solid kettle. It's suitable for most hobs, and it's full of useful and practical features such as the well designed handle and easy open spout. Style-wise it's certainly retro, and it features a stainless steel body which is of particular interest if you're concerned about plastic leaching. A great kettle which we rate 4.5 out of 5 stars.
