The Russell Hobbs 21671-70 Retro Ribbon Jug Kettle is a unique take on a retro themed kettle. Available in black, red and cream, the retro jug kettle will match a wide range of kitchen colour schemes. The retro accents are of particular interest - from the ring lid, to the square handle design.

The kettle's most interesting and unique feature is the temperature gauge on the side of the kettle (pictured above). The gauge itself is an old fashioned type of gauge. Oddly enough, it matches the kettle's design perfectly. I've never seen anything like it before, and it will certainly be a talking point for visitors.

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres; around average for Russell Hobbs kettles.
• Dimensions - 21.5cm x 19.5cm x 23.0cm.
• Boil Speed - 1 cup in around 55 seconds.
• Cup Indicators - There are 1/2/3 cup indicators on the inside of the kettle. These give a visual indication as to how much water you need. This allows you to boil only the water wanted. The advertised energy saving is up to 66%.
• Handle - The handle is embossed, allowing for easy grip. In addition to this, the handle is soft, which helps with both grip and pouring.
• Wattage - This kettle has lower wattage than most. For comparison, this kettle has 2400W as opposed to the more common 3000W.
• Smart Spout Design - The spout is designed to minimise splashing and spilling, therefore resulting in cleaner worktops.
• Removable Lid - The lid is removable, and can be removed by it being lifted by the retro ring on top.

Temperature Gauge

The temperature gauge is of an old fashioned design. Not only does it look great, but being able to see exactly what the temperature of the water is will give you an indication of whether the kettle needs reboiling. The temperature scale runs from 0 Degrees Celsius to 100 Degrees Celsius, as pictured below:

Water Filter

There's a fine mesh water filter which sits in the kettle's spout. It's removable, washable and therefore reusable. It's design to prevent pieces of limescale and anything else in the water from entering your cup. It also has the side effect of making drinks look more appealing.
