Russell Hobbs state that the "speed spout" reduces boil time of 1 cup (235ml) to around 38 seconds - a very fast boil indeed. This makes it perfect for if you're running late and need a quick cup of tea before work, or before an appointment.
The speed spout is a simple device. It works by blocking steam from escaping the kettle, therefore causing the water to heat up and then boil much quicker. The overall reduction in steam escaping is up to 65%. Picture below:

The Velocity Kettle has a hinged lid, which can be opened by a button on the handle. The kettle can therefore be picked up and filled with only one hand.
