Smeg Retro Kettle Review

The Smeg Retro Kettle is a premium retro themed kettle designed by Smeg. It's made from polished stainless steel, and is available in 6 colour schemes - Silver (pictured), Red, Black, Gold, Cream and Rose Gold. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design. The body is shaped like a dome, the spout is curved to ensure a smooth pour and the handle is open at the bottom.

It's a rapid boil kettle with a powerful 3kW heating element. One feature we particularly like is the stainless steel limescale filter as many kettles have plastic ones, so this is a big plus. Its other features include a lift off lid which opens softly, a clear water level indicator, a 360 degree swivel base for convenience, automatic shut off for safety and a concealed heating element for safety and visual appeal.

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or 6-7 cups. This size is standard for kettles. It's perfect for large families, work offices, etc.
• Dimensions - 17.0cm x 21.5cm x 24.7cm.
• Rapid Boil - The Smeg kettle is a rapid boil kettle. It has a 3kW heating element.
• Water Level Indicator - The kettle has a water level gauge on its side. It marks 0.5L (2 cups), 1L (4 cups), 1.5L (6 cups) and the 1.7L maximum.
• Lift Off Lid - The kettle has a lift off lid which softly opens. Such lids make the inside of the kettle easier to clean.
• Stainless Steel Limescale Filter - The kettle has a stainless steel limescale filter. It's removable and washable so it can therefore be reused over and over.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle is cordless. It instead uses a base to boil. The base is a circular 360 degree swivel base, so the kettle can be placed on it at any angle. This means the kettle can be used easily by left and right handed people. The base also has anti-slip feet.
• Automatic Shut Off - Once the water has boiled, the kettle will automatically switch off.
• Concealed Heating Element - The heating element is concealed underneath the kettle's floor, making the inside look better as well as making the kettle easier to clean. It also extends the life of the kettle.

All things considered, the Smeg Retro Kettle is up to standard. It has a lovely retro themed design, with a quaint lift off lid. It's packed with features including the ability to rapidly boil, an easy to read water level indicator (both litres and cups), a concealed heating element for longevity and automatic shut off.
