Susteas Tea Kettle Review

The Susteas Tea Kettle is a stove top kettle with a large 2.6 litre capacity. It has an elegant traditional design, with elements of modern style. It's made from surgical grade 18/8 stainless steel (18% chromium, 8% nickel) making it suitable for hobs such as electric, induction, halogen and radiant. It's available in five colours - Red, Yellow (pictured), Champagne Gold, Matt Black and Rose Gold.

There are a number of design elements which make the kettle easier to use. We go into detail soon, but to give you a flavour, it has a clear whistle, a thumb operated spout, an ergonomic angled handle, a lift off lid, and the kettle can be filled in two ways.

The Susteas brand is kitchen supply oriented and export across the world. In addition to this kettle, they sell glass teapots. They're a relatively new company (2010), but they've certainly carved a niche out for themselves, and they continue to build a strong reputation.

Let's now look at some of the features:

• Capacity - 2.6 Litres. This is a fairly large capacity, and certainly more than most electric kettles. It equates to around about 10 cups.

• Lift Off Lid - The lid lifts on and off easily to allow for easy filling and cleaning.
• Spout - The spout can easily be opened through the use of a thumb operated lever.
• Two Filling Methods - There are two ways to fill this kettle - through the lid or through the spout.

Good Whistle

The Susteas Tea Kettle will emit a clear and audible whistle. Like most stove top kettles, it needs to be reasonably full. For the best whistle, it's recommended that the kettle has 2.6 litres of water in it, although it will work with slightly less water.

Handle

A lot of thought has gone into the handle. It's a C-shaped ergonomic handle with a comfortable grip. Note that the handle is angled slightly, to facilitate easier pouring. The handle is made from strong metal.

Summary

All in all, the Susteas Kettle is an excellent stove top kettle. In fact, it's on our list of best induction kettles. Its style is certainly in-line with traditional kettles, although there are aspects which are distinctly modern. The handle is one of the bigger upsides to this kettle in the sense that it's comfortable and angled in an advantageous way. Overall, we give the Susteas Tea Kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars.
