Haden Cotswold Kettle Review

The Haden Cotswold Kettle is a modern electric kettle in the style of a traditional kettle. Its retro look is achieved by its compact pyramid shape, lift off removable lid, open bottom handle and the use of polished stainless steel. The Cotswold Kettle is full of modern features, however, and boasts rapid boiling, an easy pour spout, an illuminating power switch, a 360 degree base and more.

The Cotswold Kettle is made from stainless steel and is BPA free, giving peace of mind. The kettle appears to be of solid construction and the handle is sturdy. We particularly like the easy grip handle which has finger grooves to provide a comfortable grip. Colour wise, the Cotswold Kettle is available in cream and turquoise - two classics.

About Haden

The Haden brand is well established and has been around for over 100 years. Originally they were in the bicycle market, but they adapted and moved on to kettles, toasters, milling seats, microwaves, coffee machines and more. They're a respected brand and are known for their innovations.

Specification

Let's look at the features in more detail:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or 6-8 cups depending on their size. Such a large capacity is suitable for families, a get together with friends, busy offices, etc.
• Rapid Boil - The modern 3kW heating element provides a rapid boil. Your hot drinks will be ready very quickly indeed.
• Easy Grip Handle - As you can see from the picture, the handle has grooves so that it can be comfortably and firmly held.
• Easy Pour Spout - The spout is angled in such a way that pouring the kettle is almost effortless.
• Lift Off Lid - The lid can be lifted straight off, allowing for quick and easy filling and cleaning. This is preferable to hinged lids which are somewhat flimsy and can be prone to breaking.
• Illuminating Power Switch - The power switch will illuminate while the kettle is boiling.
• 360 Degree Base - For the kettle to be cordless, it has been designed to boil on a 360 degree rotational base. Having a rotational base is convenient as the kettle can be swivelled around it, and placed facing any direction on it. This is particularly useful if your household has left and right handed people as they can both put the kettle down without having to reorient the base after each use.
• Cord Storage - The electrical wire can be stored under the base if there's any excess.
• Boil Dry Protection - When the water level drops below a safe level, the kettle will shut itself off.

Limescale Filter

As you can see in the below image, there's a limescale filter which slots behind the spout. It's both removable and washable, and can therefore be reused. One effect of the filter is it makes your drinks look less cloudy/discoloured.

Water Window and Gauge

To allow you to judge exactly how much water is inside the kettle, it comes with a water window and water level indicator. This indicator marks 3 cups (0.8L), 5 cups (1.2L), 6 cups (1.5L) and the 1.7L maximum. This is very handy if you want to save electricity by not boiling extra water.
