Haden Richmond Kettle Review

The Haden Richmond Kettle is a modern electric kettle which boasts premium features such as variable temperature control, light up touch buttons, a keep warm function, and a beautiful large glass water window which illuminates on boiling. As well as the above, the kettle also has the usual standard features. These include rapid boiling, a limescale filter for the best looking and tasting hot drinks, a stylish lift off lid, multiple safety features and much more.

Temperature Control

The real beauty in this kettle lies in its temperature regulating features. These come in two parts. The first is the ability to set the boiling threshold at 70C, 80C, 90C and 100C. The application of this is clear. Coffee, for example, is best brewed at 90C, whereas green tea, and indeed other herbals teas, give their best taste when brewed at a 80C. This kettle is therefore perfect for households where different drinks are preferred. In particular, it's perfect for coffee and herbal tea enthusiasts.

The second part comes in the form of a "keep warm" function. Put simply, this function will maintain the water at your desired temperature for up to 60 minutes. This is useful because you can boil water in advance, so if you know your friends will be over soon, you can boil the kettle, then serve hot drinks as soon as they arrive.

• Illumination - As seen in one of the above pictures, the Richmond Kettle illuminates internally a calming blue. This is further enhanced by the large glass water window.
• Limescale Filter - To reduce the issue with limescale, the kettle is equipped with an internal filter.
• Lift Off Lid - The lid is easy to lift off. It's preferable to a hinged lid as those kinds of lids are less durable and can break easily.
• Strix Controller - The kettle uses a Strix thermostat. These are known for their reliability.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle comes with an all round 360 degree base. Having a base allows the kettle to be cordless. The base is convenient as the kettle only needs to be placed on it and lifted off, as opposed to having to be plugged in each time.
• Boil Dry Protection - The kettle has a safety feature where it will switch off if the water level gets too low.
• Automatic Shut Off - When up to your desired temperature, the kettle will switch off. If the keep warm button is activated, then it will maintain the set temperature.

Our View

In our view, the Haden Richmond Kettle meets the standard required of modern kettles. It's beautifully designed, sporting a mixture of glass and stainless steel, not to mention the relaxing blue illumination when boiling. Its top feature is definitely the variable temperature control which gives you full control over your drinks, be it coffee brewed at 90C or herbal tea brewed at 80C.
