Haden Salcombe Kettle Review

The Haden Salcombe Kettle is a lightweight and compact electric kettle with a beautifully designed traditional exterior and plenty of modern features. There are two main features which make this kettle stand out. Firstly, the kettle will produce a rapid boil. No longer will you be waiting around for the power switch to flick off. And secondly, the kettle is completely BPA free, so if you're concerned about the possibility of this chemical being in contact with your hot water, then you need not worry with the Salcombe Kettle.

From a design perspective, it's immediately obvious that the kettle is rather classic in its appearance. The compact design, the open handle and the lift off lid demonstrate this. The water chamber is made from stainless steel. It's strong, sturdy and rust resistant.

This particular model has a black glossy body with copper and stainless steel accents.

Specification

Let's take a look at the specification:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or 7-8 cups. This capacity is ideal for large families, for entertaining groups of friends, and even for work places.
• Rapid Boil - The kettle utilises fast boil technology in order to boil your water in the shortest possible time. This is aided by the powerful 3kW heating element.
• Lift Off Lid - The lid can easily be removed by simply lifting it off. Traditionally designed kettles often have such a lift off lid as a hinged one doesn't fit in with the theme. Lift off lids are more durable than hinged ones also, so you get added durability.
• BPA Free - As mentioned above, the kettle is BPA free. You can therefore drink tea with your mind at ease.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle is cordless and instead boils on a base. This base is a 360 degree swivel base meaning the kettle can be placed down on it in any direction you please. This is particularly useful for left and right handers.
• Integrated Cord Storage - Depending on how far away your plug sockets are, there's the possibility of extra cord being left over. This is not a problem, however, as the base has a space underneath for excess wire to be safely stored.
• Boil Dry Protection - One of the safety features of the kettle is boil dry protection. If the kettle's water boils away, then power will automatically be cut.

Limescale Filter

There's a fine mesh limescale filter inside the kettle. It's designed to prevent limescale from entering your drink, resulting in it being better looking and tasting. There's a noticeable difference between filtered and unfiltered water in the sense that filtered water is less cloudy.

Water Window

There's a large water window on the kettle, showing you how much water is inside. The water window has a gauge on the top of it. It marks 4 cups, 5 cups, 6 cups and the 1.7 litre maximum.
