Our Review

The Russell Hobbs 25240 Geo Kettle is a unique take on a modern kettle. While most modern kettles go for the cylindrical design with a smooth exterior, the Geo Kettle features a volcano cone shape with a geometric outer design.

As a premium kettle, the Geo Kettle is packed with features that are expected from contemporary kettles. Of these features, the most notable is the rapid boil facility that allows you to have that final cup of tea just before work or an appointment.

Another significant feature is the up to 65% reduction in energy saved when boiling 1 cup (235ml) against 1 litre. There are cup level indicators inside the kettle to help with this.

Style and Design

As mentioned above, the shape of the kettle is cone-like. The colour is described by Russell Hobbs as "gunmetal grey", which is interesting to say the least. The outer architectural design is something which I've certainly never seen before on a kettle, but I can see how it would match certain kitchen styles, such as the one below:

Also, unlike most contemporary kettles, rather than having a boiling indicator on the on/off switch, this kettle features a white ring which illuminates around the bottom of the outside. Rather a nice touch in my opinion.

About Russell Hobbs

Russell Hobbs are known throughout Europe and the US. They're a household appliance manufacturer, who specialise in kitchen appliances. As well as kettles, they sell toasters, microwaves, bread makers, irons, etc. They've been around since the 50s, and have created quite the strong reputation for themselves.

In further detail, the Geo Kettle has the following:

  • Capacity - 1.7 Litres which is similar to most Russell Hobbs kettles.
  • Internal Cup Markers - The inside of the kettle has 1/2/3 cup markers. This allows you to fill the kettle with the volume of water you require, which means you won't have to worry about excess boiling. This is designed to help you bring down your energy bill. The markers are removable, if needed.
  • Rapid Boil - The kettle is designed to rapidly boil water. More specifically, 1 cup (approx. 235ml) boils in around 45 seconds.
  • Illuminating Light Ring - When the kettle is boiling, a white ring will illuminate around the bottom of the kettle.
  • Water Window - A small water window is featured under the handle. Through this window you will be able to see a water level indicator.
  • Perfect Pour Spout - The metal spout is manufactured in such a way that the water is kept in a narrow stream, therefore minimising splashing and spilling.
  • Cordless - The kettle itself is cordless. There is a cord attached to the base.

Push Button Lid

The hinged lid is controlled by a soft push button on the lid itself. Simply push, and the lid gently opens. The kettle can then be filled and the lid will lock back down. This is demonstrated below:

Water Filter

There's a fine-mesh anti-scale filter inside the spout. This is removable, washable and reusable. It's pictured below:

360 Degree Base with Cord Storage

The base is 360 degrees. This is not only convenient, but handy as the kettle can pivot around it. Underneath the base is space to store the electrical cord. The base is as below:

There are two videos featured on the website, explaining the features of the kettle.

Matching Toaster

Russell Hobbs also sell a toaster which matches the design of this kettle. At the time of writing, both are available on Here's a picture of both the kettle and the toaster together:

Overall, the Geo Kettle is a great addition to the kitchen, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as a premium kettle. The design is unique, but is definitely suited to most kitchens out there. Of particular note is the rapid boil facility and the energy saving (lower electric bill) features. We give this kettle 4.5/5 and recommend it wholeheartedly.
