De'Longhi Avvolta Kettle Review

The De'Longhi Avvolta Kettle is a sleek and stylish compact electric kettle with a unique swirly design, reminiscent of a helter skelter. Available in black, white and red, the exterior of the kettle is coated in a swirly transparent ring wrapping, which gives a beautifully elegant effect. The Avvolta Kettle is also full of features. First off, it's a rapid boil kettle, and is able to produce boiling water very fast indeed. In terms of water quality, the kettle is equipped with an in-built fine mesh limescale filter which results in better looking and tasting drinks. Other features include a water level indicator, a 360 degree base, a concealed element and an automatic shut off capability.

About De'Longhi

De'Longhi is an Italian brand, and they often sell products with Italian inspiration. They originated in 1902 and at that time manufactured small industrial parts, but they now have a global presence and sell appliances and accessories such as kettles, toasters, coffee machines, grinders and valve connectors, to name a few. They're definitely a solid choice so far as kitchenware goes.

We now look at the features:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, or 6-8 cups depending on size. This is perfectly adequate for large families, chaotic offices and similar.
• Dimensions - 26.0cm x 20.4cm x 26.5cm.
• Fast Boil - The powerful 3kW element provides the kettle with its ability to rapidly boil water. Excruciatingly long boil times will become a thing of the past.
• Water Level Indicator - There's an easy to read water level indicator gauge. It marks 0.8L, 1.0L, 1.2L, 1.5L and 1.7L.
• Lift Off Lid - As well as topping off the design, the kettle's lift off lid is preferable to hinged flip lids primarily because of durability. It also makes the interior easier to fill and clean.
• Angled Handle - The handle is angled slightly away from the kettle. This makes the kettle easier to pour due to less arm movement being required.
• Limescale Filter - Inside the kettle is a fine mesh limescale filter. It stops limescale from exiting the spout, therefore making your drinks taste better and look less cloudy.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle is cordless and achieves a boil through the use of a 360 degree base. It's a swivel base so the kettle can be rotated around it. Bases such as these are particularly suitable for left and right handers.
• Concealed Heating Element - The heating element is concealed under the base to prolong its life and to make the interior more visually appealing (and easier to clean).
• Automatic Shut Off - The kettle will switch off when it has finished boiling, or if it's prematurely lifted from the base.

Our Opinion

Overall, we're left with a favourable view of the Avvolta Kettle. Its swirly helter skelter style actually works really well, particularly on the red version, but the black model also looks impressive. Together with the wide spout, angled handle and chrome details, the design is further enhanced.

The kettle also stands strong on the functionality side of things. Rapid boiling, a fine mesh limescale filter, a water gauge for efficient boiling and the easy to use lift off lid help push this kettle into top tier territory. We recommend this kettle for modern kitchens and rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
