De'Longhi Scolpito Kettle Review

The De'Longhi Scolpito Kettle is a charming premium jug kettle with a lovely vintage design and feel, but with features expected from modern kettles. The body of the kettle has a different design for its top and bottom. The bottom has a ribbed style which is glossy so that light reflects off of it. The top on the other hand is narrower. The result of this is a sort of pyramid shape.

Other vintage design elements include the open handle, lift off lid and wide spout. The kettle was designed with Italian inspiration. Another plus is the kettle is available in three colours. These are Granite Black (pictured), Clay Beige and Mineral Blue.

The practical features are extensive. The kettle has a large capacity, the ability to rapidly boil water, a 1 cup minimum for efficient boiling, a removable and washable limescale filter, a water window and accompanying gauge, a 360 degree base and more.

De'Longhi is an Italian based brand which was formed in 1902. Originally they manufactured small industrial parts, but they now sell kettles, toasters, ovens, irons, coffee machines, coffee grinders, and more. They export all over the world. They're known for their durable and high quality products.

We now look at the list of features:

• Capacity - 1.5 Litres, 5-7 cups are possible. This size is ideal for families - big or small.
• Dimensions - 22cm x 22cm x 25cm.
• Rapid Boil - A 3kW heating element provides the kettle with the power it requires and causes it to rapidly boil water.
• 1 Cup Minimum - The minimum boil quantity is only one cup. This is good because you can boil small amounts of water meaning an even faster boil as well as much energy saved.
• Filter - The kettle is equipped with a removable and washable limescale filter. It's essential for the UK where the water is particularly hard, i.e. full of the minerals which cause limescale to form.
• Water Level Indicator - There's a water window with a gauge marking 0.5L, 0.75L, 1.0L, 1.2L and 1.5L.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle boils on a 360 degree swivel base, where the kettle can be placed facing any direction. Such a base is essential for kettles used by left and right handers.
• Concealed Heating Element - The heating element is concealed under the floor of the kettle, therefore making the inside more visually appealing. A concealed element also extends the lifespan of the kettle too.
• Automatic Shut Off - When up to temperature (or when the kettle is lifted from the base), it will automatically switch off.

Our View

All in all, a great kettle. We particularly like the pyramid shaped design and the lift off lid. They really do give a retro feel. The features are numerous and the rapid boiling has a premium feel to it. Overall, we rate the De'Longhi Scolpito Kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars. A good buy.
