De'Longhi Brilliante Kettle Review

The De'Longhi Brilliante Kettle is a modern electric kettle with a pyramid shaped design and a whole host of modern features. The design is pretty neat, and rare for kettles. The kettle is tiled with glossy diamond shapes which get smaller as you go further up the kettle. The lid looks like a small hat, and is also textured with small diamond shapes.

The design is brought together and completed by the fair use of chrome around the base and lid. Pictured in this review is the black edition, but there's a white version too. In addition, the kettle is free of the chemical BPA, which will put some minds at ease.

From a practical point of view, the Brilliante Kettle holds its own. It comes with an in-built limescale filter which can be removed for cleaning, a water window with water level indicator, a 360 degree base with non-slip feet, and a triple level of safety protection.

The De'Longhi was founded in 1902 in Italy and back then they manufactured small industrial parts in their workshop. Since then they've expanded worldwide and have grown their range to include kitchen appliances, cleaning appliances and more. Some of their products include kettles, toasters, coffee machines, coffee grinders, irons, cookers and more. They're definitely a top brand of kettles.

We now take a look at the features:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, which serves approximately 6-8 cups, depending on the type of hot drink. Such a large size is suitable for most families and busy office workplaces.
• Dimensions - 18.5cm x 25.0cm x 27.0cm.
• Limescale Filter - As mentioned above, the kettle comes with a limescale filter which is both removable and washable. It has the effect of making your drink taste better and it also can make it less discoloured and cloudy. It's essential for most of the UK where limescale is a major problem.
• Lift Off Lid - The lift off lid isn't only for looks. It also makes the kettle extremely easy to fill and clean.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle is cordless and instead makes use of a 360 degree base. The kettle can swivel around the base and face any direction on it. A lovely feature and perfect for a kettle used regularly by left and right handers.
• Non-Slip Feet - For stability the base has non-slip feet.
• Automatic Shut Off - The kettle will automatically shut itself off if the water has fully boiled or if it's lifted from the base.

Water Window

There's a large water window underneath the kettle's handle. It's made of hexagons, which fit in well with the diamond shaped exterior. It has a gauge on it marking 0.75L, 1.0L, 1.2L, 1.5L and 1.7L.

Matching Toaster

Overall Summary

In summary, the De'Longhi Brilliante Kettle achieves its purpose, both in design and functionality. A beautiful glossy exterior with diamond shapes, a quaint lift off lid which looks like a little hat and an angled handle which looks good and will aide in the pouring process. All of these design aspects contribute to making the design as good as it is. The practical features are numerous. We particularly like the effective limescale filter, the swivel base and the non-slip feet. All in all, we rate this kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars.
