Up first is the Mode Kettle by Russell Hobbs. It's available in black (pictured) and red, and has a large 1.7 litre (6-8 cups) capacity. It's a stylish and sleek kettle with stainless steel details and a large easy grip black handle. It has an easy pour spout so as to reduce drips and spillages, a convenient push button flip lid, an easy to read side water gauge, a removable/washable limescale filter and more.
Further features include a 360 degree base with space underneath to store excess electrical cable, a concealed heating element to give it a long life, and an illuminating water window to indicate boiling. Overall it's a solid kettle, and as such it's our top choice. In addition, there's a matching 2 slice toaster available, and the pair can be bought together as a bundle.

Up next is the Russell Hobbs Textures Kettle. It's a fairly simple kettle, with a straightforward and plain design. Its features are also somewhat standard. They include dual water windows with a gauge, a 360 degree base, an "A" energy class rating, and a proven energy saving of up to 70% when boiling 1 cup (235ml) instead of 1 litre.
Other features include a flip open, button controlled lid with the button placed within thumb reach, a heat resistant handle, and a sleek design. This kettle has two matching toasters available - a 2 slice toaster and a 4 slice toaster.

At the more premium end of the scale is the 1.7 litre Cuisinart Signature Kettle. It's much more sophisticated than the previous two kettles in the sense that there are multiple temperature choices which range from 85C to 100C. With this kettle there are more colour schemes available including Stainless Steel, Frosted Pearl, Light Pistachio and Vintage Rose.
From a design perspective, the Signature Kettle is well constructed from durable stainless steel. For style purposes it has chrome details. Other practical features include a 360 degree base, a removable and washable limescale filter, an LCD temperature display, a rapid boil 3kW heating element, and more.

An alternative and more trendy kettle is the ASCOT Glass Kettle. It's a beautiful jug shaped kettle, with a large glass water window and stainless steel accents. Aside from being a good icebreaker, it's an excellent functional kettle with features such as fast boiling, quiet boiling, a BPA free construction, automatic shut off and boil dry protection.
Other features include a 360 degree swivel base, a removable and washable limescale filter and a stylish black coating on the handle which also protects against scalding. There are two versions of the ASCOT Glass Kettle, one with a round handle (pictured) and one with a vertical handle.

Finally, we have the Breville Impressions Kettle. It has a 1.7 litre (6-8 cups) capacity and five colour schemes are available. These are Black, Black & Rose Gold, Cream, Red and White. It features a textured design (vertical grooves) and has a high gloss finish with polished chrome details.
In terms of practical features, the Impressions Kettle has a 360 degree base, a water window with cup levels indicated, a removable limescale filter which can easily be rinsed out, a lift off lid, non-slip feet on the base, base cord storage and a rapid boil 3kW heating element.
