Salter Opulence Kettle Review

The Salter Opulence Kettle is a modern electric jug kettle with a charming soft touch indigo finish, a fair use of stainless steel and a beautiful rose gold coloured closed triangular handle. But this kettle is not just a pretty face, as it's packed with features including a powerful 3kW heating element for a rapid boil, a reliable Strix controller, an internal limescale filter and a stylish lift off lid.

Before diving into the details, let's take a full look at the design. The soft-touch indigo finish is an appealing deep shade of blue which will match most modern kitchens. There's a light use of stainless steel, most notably on the lid, spout and around the edge of the base. There are two rose gold coloured components which are the sturdy angled handle and the tip of the power switch. These design elements come together to create the exquisite style that makes the Opulence Kettle.

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres. This is between 6 and 8 cups. This means that the kettle is ideal for large families and offices.

• Rapid Boil - A rapid boil is achieved through the use of a powerful 3kW electrical heating element. Excessively long delays and waits will become a memory.
• Limescale Filter - With the kettle comes a limescale filter. It makes your drink taste better by virtue of reducing the amount of limescale in it, and it also reduces discolouration, making your drink look more appealing too.
• Lift Off Lid - In fitting with the style, the lid is a lift off lid as opposed to the flip lid variety. The main advantages of this are durability, as hinged lids can fail, and also the inside is much easier to clean.
• Strix Controller - The controlling component is by Strix who are known for producing reliable controllers.
• 360 Degree Base - The kettle is cordless and instead comes with a base on which to boil. This base is a so called "360 degree base" which means the kettle can be placed on it at any angle.
• Automatic Shut Off - Once up to temperature, the kettle will switch itself off automatically.
• Boil Dry Protection - The interior is equipped with a boil dry sensor which, if the kettle runs out of water, will turn the kettle off.

In order to see how much water is inside the kettle, there's a vertical water window on the side. It marks various water levels from 0.8L up to 1.7L.
