Salter Riga Kettle Review

The Salter Riga Kettle is a charming modern jug kettle which has a sleek metallic black exterior with stainless steel accents. It's also full of features, some of which include rapid boiling, an in-built internal water filter, an illuminating power switch and a time saving 360 degree base.

The kettle's design is convenient. For example, the lid on top is controlled through the use of a button on the handle. This button is easily pressed by your thumb when the handle is being held. The 360 degree base is also handy as you can place the kettle down at any angle without having to align it or plug it in.

About Salter

The Riga Kettle is by Salter, a leading brand of kitchenware. As well as kettles they sell toasters, microwaves, soup makers, mixers, blenders, knives and utensils. They've been around since the 1700s and are a strong and trustworthy brand.

Specification

We now take a look at the specification:

• Capacity - 1.7 Litres, which is about 6-8 cups, depending on the serving size. Such a capacity is suitable for big families, offices, and similar.
• Dimensions - 22.5cm x 20.6cm x 16.9cm.
• Rapid Boil - A 3kW heating element gives the kettle its ability to produce a rapid boil.
• Filter - There exists an in-built limescale filter inside of the kettle. A filter does two things. The most obvious is it reduces the amount of limescale leaving the kettle. The second is the presence of a filter results in a much better looking drink as it tackles discolouration.
• Water Level Indicator - There's a water window with a water gauge. The water gauge indicates 0.6L up to 1.7L.
• 360 Degree Base - As discussed above.
• Integrated Cord Storage - Any left over electrical wire can be coiled and stored away underneath the base.
• Automatic Shut Off - When the water has boiled, the kettle will switch off.
• Boil Dry Protection - The kettle is protected against boiling all of its water away through the use of an internal boil dry sensor.

Recommendation

Overall, the Salter Riga Kettle is a good kettle both in terms of design and functionality. Its use of metallic black together with stainless steel and lighter colours on the spout and around the lower portion, make the kettle visually appealing, and therefore makes it suitable for the vast majority of modern kitchens. The features are numerous too, including a rapid boil facility, a limescale filter, a water level indicator and multiple safety features. We rate this kettle 4.5 out of 5 stars.
